Many Americans are familiar with The Little Prince, a wonderful book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. This is a whimsical and fabulous book and works as a children`s story as well as a thought-provoking adult fable. Far fewer are aware of Saint-Exupery`s other writings, novels and short stories.
많은 미국인들이 안토니 드 생텍쥐페리의 멋진 책, `어린왕자`와 친숙하다. 아이들의 동화로, 생각하게 만드는 어른들의 동화로 별나고 신화적인 책이며 작품이다. 생텍쥐페리의 다른 작품이나 소설, 단편은 거의 알려져있지 않다.Saint-Exupery was a fighter pilot who fought against the Nazis and was killed in action. Before World War II, he fought in the Spanish Civil War against the fascists. He wrote a fascinating story based on that experience entitled The Smile (Le Sourire). It is this story which I`d like to share with you now. 생텍쥐페리는 나치에 저항해 싸운 비행기 조종사였으며 전쟁에서 죽었다. 2차대전 전에 그는 파시스트들을 대상으로 한 스페인 시민 전쟁에서 싸웠다. 그는 그 경험에 기초하여 The Smile이라 제목붙인 매력적인 이야기를 썼다. 그것이 내가 당신과 함께 나누어보려는 이야기이다.
