You will often have been told that you live in a democracy and that this is wonderful, something that should be exported all over the world. But what does democracy mean and how does it work?

There are, in fact, two meanings. One is what I shall call Democracy, with a capital D.

One-party Democracy is something of a contradiction in terms.

The second I shall call democracy with a small d.
